Nearly 200 Transgender Activists Gather In Los Angeles To Plan Statewide Trans Rights Movement

Second Annual California Leadership Summit Takes Place at University of Southern California, March 23-25

Los Angeles - Transgender community leaders and activists from around the state will converge on the University of Southern California campus to begin planning for the next phase of California’s transgender rights movement March 23-25. Culminating five years of steady progress in the statewide movement for equality, the second annual California Transgender Leadership Summit will attract nearly 200 local, state and national leaders to plan the campaign, network and participate in skills building workshops. Community demand for this year’s Summit, one of the few events of its kind in the nation, has been so strong that online registration was closed in late February.

The free, three-day summit features a dozen presenters who will update the community on the state of the transgender rights movement today, the goals of the movement, and ideas about how to transform California into a state where everyone can fully participate, regardless of their gender identity. In addition, interactive workshops will promote leadership and personal, community and organizational development.
